As we embark in 2025, I am reminded of the extraordinary partnerships that have enabled HomeBase Cincinnati to transform neighborhoods and lives in recent years. As we reflect on the past year, we are profoundly grateful for partners like you who empower Cincinnati’s neighborhoods to thrive. Your support has been integral in transforming aspirations into action, enabling HomeBase Cincinnati to serve as a vital resource for our community development ecosystem, and to become a cornerstone of community development in our region.
In 2024, HomeBase spearheaded several transformative initiatives:
Quick Strike Acquisition Fund: With $1 million in funding, this program supported acquisitions by CDCs in five neighborhoods, leveraging a 1:95 ratio for approximately $95 million in development, including 418 potential affordable and mixed-income housing units. Notably, Mt. Washington CDC is doing its first co-developed real estate deal, adding 55 much needed affordable senior housing units.
VTICA Neighborhood Program Launch: For the first time since VTICA’s inception, we disbursed $33,500 to two neighborhoods and are preparing to distribute $60,000 for community-driven revitalization projects. The fund’s flexibility allows community councils, CDCs, and business associations to access critical resources to support their neighborhoods.
CDC Project Manager Training Fellowship: HomeBase soft launched the innovative HomeBase Fellowship Program, a direct response to our new strategic plan and SWOT analysis of our community development ecosystem: The Neighborhood and CDC Capacity Analysis. We deployed our first wave of fellows to serve as project managers for lower-capacity Community Development Corporations (CDCs), with HomeBase’s mentorship and guidance. These fellows are actively driving impactful projects while gaining hands-on experience in urban planning, community engagement, and real estate development. Their work is already accelerating neighborhood revitalization, from fostering partnerships to pushing critical projects forward.
